How to get toned
Being toned and defined means basically one thing; having a low enough percent of body fat so that muscle can be seen. Sounds easy right?
A lot of people believe the key to getting a toned and defined body is lifting less weight and for higher reps when you train. This will help develop muscle and make you stronger but it isn't going to make you defined. In reality bodybuilding has little to do with getting toned and it more comes down to simply removing the body fat that's covering your muscles, as i said at the start; decreasing your body fat percent. This can be done through a good healthy nutritional diet plan and regular cardio.
Diet Plan
90% of the effort of creating that toned and defined body will come from a good diet plan. If you aren't ready to take control of your diet, sculpted abs and ripped pecs should not be a goal for you. At the end of the day your diet plan always comes down to your calorie intake and making sure your body is running efficiently. This means you need to stop eating fatty foods and carbohydrates. Cutting carbs by replacing red meats with white meats will help and making sure you consume at least 2 portions of veg & fruit a day. Making sure you are consuming enough protein for muscle growth is also important.
Cardio
Cardio is vital to getting that toned body. You want to aim to do exercises that will get your heart rate up and help increase your metabolism to burn more body fat. Circuit training and cardio training such as running & swimming will get your heart rate up and continue to burn calories even after you have finished exercising.
